For him, social service is a way of life. Sharing the zodiac sign with personalities like Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela and Helen Keller, Mr. Kothari has always been compassionate. Donations, contribution to social causes and benevolence are part of his chores. Plight of people move him. Especially those who are terminally ill. His heart melts whenever he comes across cancer patients. Their unbearable sufferings and trauma of their family members prompted him to start Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Jaipur for cancer treatment in 1996. This super specialty 350-bed charitable hospital has now become the largest hospital of its kind in northern India. Patients from neighboring states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat come here for treatment of this deadly disease. Managed by KG Kothari Memorial Trust, this hospital is equipped with all the modern treatment technology including the rare linear treatment technology. Mr. Kothari, as the chairman of this hospital, has been actively involved in upgrading the services. He ensures free treatment for BPL families and funds detection camps and health clinics across the state for creating cancer awareness among the people.
“ Manav jeevan badi mushkil se milta hai. Agar aap kisi ke kaam na aa sake to yeh vyarth hai (It’s difficult to be born as human being. If you are not able to help others, it’s a sheer wastage of life,” he says.
Founded on 16th October 1997, Cancer Care is an associate body of Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (BMCHRC) which strives to provide psychological aid to the patients and their attendants which not only builds their confidence but also generates a positive attitude to fight the disease. It is registered as NON PROFIT ORGANISATION, which came into existence with primary objective of cancer awareness and the realization of comfort to cancer patients and their family members by boosting their moral strength and minimizing their anxiety.
With an aim to fulfill one wish of a child cancer patient by raising joy, boosting his moral strength and hope to fight cancer, KGK Dreams foundation came into existence on 24th March 2010. The foundation fulfills one true wish of children aging between 1 to 16 years at BMCHRC. So far more than 2000 cancer afflicted children’s wishes have been fulfilled.
